Communication Error - Demo

By Russell Barker

Bands like Communication Error are the reason why I review and why I'm prepared to listen to countless CDs in the process. Because every once in a while you pop in a CD and something totally unexpected comes out.

Firstly there's 'Test-Tone' which commences with a throbbing bass, then cascades into crashing cymbals, through wailing guitars and then breaks down to a marching piano rhythm. In the space of a few minutes it keeps just the right side of sensory overload. There are no vocals to speak of, but then it doesn't need any.

'Dubterranea' starts like a spaceship lifting off, before settling into a low slung bass groove interlaced with spoken word samples. Every now and again a noodling guitar creeps in to join the tune.

Does this give you much of any idea what any of it sounds like? Maybe not, but check them out anyway, I guarantee no two descriptions of this band will be the same.
